Police are investigating after it appears several shots were fired at a business in North York that manufactures armoured vehicles. Police said reports of gunshots were heard in the area of Finch Avenue West and Weston Road shortly before 2 a.m. A business, identified as INKAS Armoured Vehicle Manufacturing, was damaged by gunfire but no injuries were reported, police said. Officers could be seen sifting through broken glass at the scene early Tuesday morning. Andy Ellis, the chief security officer at INKAS, said the incident has shaken staff who are employed at the facility. “We are shocked, we are saddened. People are frightened,” he said. “But I think the Toronto police have done a great deal to mitigate that fear.” He noted that the staff all showed up to the office this morning ready to work. “I’m very proud of the workers here,” he said. “They are committed people.” Police have not released any information on possible suspects. The incident comes after shots were fired at the U.S. Consulate on Monday and two locations of the same Jewish-owned bakery were hit by gunfire last weekend. Investigators could not say if they believe Tuesday’s shooting is connected to any other recent firearm discharges in the city.
