There is a heavy police presence outside the U.S. Consulate after shots were fired outside the building on Monday morning. One shell casing was found outside the building, located near University and Queen streets, at around 4:45 a.m. The southbound lanes of University Avenue are currently closed for the police investigation and no injuries have been reported. It is not clear if the consulate was the target of the shooting or gunshots were fired nearby. A white sedan was seen fleeing the area but police have not released any information on possible suspects. The incident comes four months after a shooting at the U.S. Consulate back on March 10. Police previously confirmed that multiple suspects are in custody in connection with that incident, which was described by investigators as a gun-for-hire scheme involving young people who were hired to shoot at the building.
