Toronto police have arrested two suspects in connection with a downtown shooting that left a man seriously injured early Tuesday morning. It happened near Sherbourne and Wellesley streets shortly before 1 a.m. After arriving at his home, the suspects knocked on the victim’s door, produced a firearm, and allegedly discharged it. Police said the victim, a man in his 50s, was struck in the stomach. He was later rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene but were later arrested by officers, police said. They added that two loaded firearms were also recovered at the scene. In a news release on Tuesday afternoon, the suspects were identified as 22-year-old Jah Thomas Williams and 20-year-old Lashano Mackey. They have been charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, and several other firearm-related offences. Mackey is also facing charges of failure to comply with a release order and breach of probation.
