Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a house fire in Scarborough on Thursday morning, Toronto police say. It broke out at around 9 a.m. at a home at 29 Horizon Cres., near Sheppard Avenue East and Birchmount Road. Toronto Fire Service says two occupants of the residence “self-evacuated” and were assessed by paramedics before being transported. The fire is now out, however crews remain in scene and are using thermal imaging to check for hotspots, Toronto Fire Service said. Firefighters are expected to be there for some time. Currently, Horizon Crescent is closed.
