MONTREAL - The football team that finally triumphed is being celebrated by thousands in the streets of Montreal today.

People are spilling into the downtown core and forming crowds as big as five-deep as they await the CFL champion Alouettes. The team is holding its victory parade over the lunch hour after capturing the Grey Cup on Sunday.

The Alouettes have been a dominant force for years but had lost their last four cup appearances since winning in 2002.

The team was also celebrated during a Canadiens-Tor NHL game Tuesday night by a chanting crowd at the Bell Centre, and signed the municipal registry this morning at city hall.
