OTTAWA - Federal politicians return to their desks in Parliament Monday after a weeklong break for Thanksgiving.
One issue likely to provide some sparks is the still unresolved dispute between Air Canada and its 6,800 flight attendants.
Labour Minister Lisa Raitt short-circuited their strike plans last week by sending the dispute to the Canadian Industrial Relations Board.
On Friday, CUPE urged the board to turn aside the government's request and allow bargaining to continue.
New Democrat MP and finance critic Peggy Nash has also said a better solution would be free collective bargaining.
The resumption of Parliament is also likely to include words of honour for Reg Alcock, a former Liberal MP from Manitoba who died last week at the age of 63.
Alcock once served as Treasury Board president in Paul Martin's cabinet. He also oversaw the Canadian Wheat Board and served in the intergovernmental affairs portfolio.
