Tennis is getting unprecedented exposure in Canada thanks to the success Eugenie Bouchard and Milos Raonic are having in Wimbledon.

Bouchard plays for all the marbles in the women's final tomorrow while Raonic plays against Roger Federer in the men's semi-finals today.

Their success in the past few years is partly behind the steady rise in popularity that tennis has seen in Canada.

Bouchard, from the Montreal-area, is the first Canadian ever to play in a grand slam final and has created buzz not seen since the 80's when Carling Basset advanced to the semifinal of the U-S Open in 1984.

However, someone who has covered Canadian tennis for 40 years says Bouchard's success is far bigger, particularly because it's happening at Wimbledon, the most prestigious of tennis events.

Tom Tebbutt said it's hard to say whether this momentum will continue, but the establishment of a national training centre in Montreal has helped players like Bouchard, Raonic and Vasek Pospisil develop their game.
