OTTAWA -- Ottawa's new CFL franchise will be known as the Redblacks.

The team officially unveiled its team name and logo today at a special event in the nation's capital.

The logo has the familiar large "R" that is similar to Ottawa's previous CFL logo when the club was known as the Rough Riders.

The new look features the capital letter on a background with a circular saw blade.

A few thousand fans were on hand for the announcement along with CFL commissioner Mark Cohon and Hall of Famers Russ Jackson and Tony Gabriel.

Images of the name and logo were leaked online last month.

The Ottawa Redblacks will begin play in 2014.
