TORONTO -- Lynda Kiejko will follow in her family's footsteps at this summer's Rio Olympics.

The 35-year-old from Calgary will make her Summer Games debut as she was named to Canada's shooting team Thursday along with three-time Olympian Cynthia Meyer.

Kiejko has shooting in her genes. Her late father Bill Hare competed in the 1964, '68 and '72 Games while her sister Dorothy Ludwig competed in London four years ago.

"Competing in the Olympic Games has been more than a childhood dream for me, it's a family affair," said Kiejko, a double gold medallist at last summer's Pan American Games in Toronto.

Meyer will compete in women's trap shooting while Kiejko will shoot in the 10-metre and 25-metre pistol events.

Meyer's best Olympic result came at the 2000 Sydney Games, where she finished fifth in double trap. The 50-year-old from Bowen Island, B.C., hasn't been to the Games since 2004 in Athens.

"It feels like my first as it has been 12 years since my last Games," she said in a release.

The women earned their spots at the 2016 ISSF World Cup and Olympic test event held in Rio earlier this year.

Canada has won a total of nine Olympic medals in shooting.
