TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Zach Hyman and a conditional '17 seventh-round pick from the Florida Panthers for forward Greg McKegg on Friday.

Hyman, 23, was a first team All-American and first team All-Big Ten selection at the University of Michigan. He led the Big 10 in scoring with 54 points (22 goals, 32 assists) last season.

The Toronto native was also a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to American university hockey's top player.

McKegg, 23, of St. Thomas, Ont., was selected in the third round, No, 62 overall, by Toronto in the 2010 NHL entry draft. He had 19 goals and 28 games in 65 games last season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

McKegg also appeared in three games with the Maple Leafs, registering no points.
