Charlie Sheen had a "wonderful" U.S. Thanksgiving with his ex-wife and daughters.

The controversial star - who was recently admitted to hospital after an alleged drink and drug fuelled rampage, which saw him cause $7,000 of damage to a New York hotel room - put his recent troubled behind him as he spent Thursday's holiday with Denise Richards, whom he was married to between 2002 and 2006, and their two children, Sam, six, and five-year-old Lola.

A source told gossip website PopEater: "Charlie spent the afternoon eating turkey with Denise and their two daughters.

"It was a wonderful time for them all to be together and it was Denise's idea that they all sit down together as one happy family, as if that awful night had never happened."

The 'Two and a Half Men' actor has been sued and launched a counter lawsuit against porn star Christina Walsh - who was with him at the time of his hotel breakdown, after he'd reportedly hired her as an escort - claiming she has attempted to extort him since the ordeal.

However, the eventful evening was a banned topic of discussion between Charlie and Denise - who was also staying at the hotel with the children when the incident took place - at the dinner table.

The source added: "It's clear the night in New York is far from over. But at least for one day that topic wasn't discussed over the Thanksgiving table.

"All Denise wanted was for her children to spend the holidays with their father. If she has to testify about what she was doing that night, she will, but for one day they all focused on what they had to be thankful for. Each other."
