FREDERICTON - Former New Brunswick premier Shawn Graham has quit as the province's Liberal leader.

Graham announced his intention to resign as the party's leader last month but made it official today in Fredericton.

He says he has felt fortunate to lead the party for eight and a half years and become premier but it is time to move on.

He will continue to serve as the member for the riding of Kent.

He was one of only 13 Liberals elected to the 55-seat legislature in the provincial election in September.
