A head-on collision between a school minibus and a car southwest of Montreal has sent seven children to hospital.

But a spokesman for the Chateauguay police department says none of their injuries were serious and that the kids were just shaken up. Officer Tony Sciullo also says weather conditions may have been a factor in the accident which occurred Thursday morning on Highway 132 in the town of Maple Grove.

The children were between the ages of seven and 10.

A male bus driver and a woman passenger, believed to be a parent, were also on the bus but weren't injured.

Police say the elderly driver of a car crossed the centre line of the two-lane highway and struck the oncoming school bus.
