The South Korean giant Samsung may officially enter the smartwatch arena with the presentation of the Galaxy Gear this September 4 in Berlin ahead of IFA, according to Bloomberg.

The same day could also see the launch of the brand's Galaxy Note 3.

Since the start of summer, tech websites around the globe have spread rumors of a forthcoming smartwatch from Samsung, dubbed the "Galaxy Gear," in spite of the lack of official confirmation. None of the technical characteristics of the device were known.

The concept of a connected and smart wristwatch has tempted a number of manufacturers, including Apple, Sony, and even Qualcomm. These products, which are more affordable and simpler to wear than Google Glass, could represent a lucrative alternative to the Mountain View giant's augmented reality solution.
