3D drawing was one of the big design trends to take off last year, and it looks like it isn't going anywhere soon.
The creators of 3Doodler, one of the first 3D inkers on the market, have unveiled a new improved version of the pen that weighs just 50 grams.
The 3Doodler 2.0 is a complete redesign of the original model, which sold over 130,000 versions after being successfully funded on Kickstarter. The updated version of the pen, which heats and rapidly cools plastic, allowing drawings to be brought to life mid-air, is half the weight of the original.
The pen features variable speed and temperature controls, a redesigned nozzle and reduced power consumption to make it easier and more practical to use. According to its makers it is now "the world's smallest 3D printing pen."
With weeks to go, the pen has already overachieved its funding target of $30,000 by more than $300,000 on Kickstarter. 3Doodler 2.0 is available starting at a pledge of $50 and is expected to ship in February.
