TV scientist Bill Nye dropped the F-bomb on numerous occasions in a sketch showing his exasperation at the world’s lack of progress on climate change.

The American, known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, appeared as a guest on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on Sunday for a segment explaining carbon-pricing.

“By the end of this century, if emissions keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another four to eight degrees,” Nye said.

“What I’m saying is the planet is on f**king fire.”

During the video Nye lights a globe on fire to illustrate his point. He then highlights a fire blanket, fire extinguisher and sand bucket to show that tackling climate change needs investment.

“There are a lot of things we could do to put it out. Are any of them free? No, of course not,” he said.

“Nothing’s free, you idiots. Grow the f**k up. You’re not children any more. I didn’t mind explaining photosynthesis to you when you were 12.

“But you’re adults now and this is an actual crisis, got it? Safety glasses off, motherf**kers.”

Childhood fans of the normally endearing Nye were surprised and pleased to hear him use the F-word for the first time on TV to emphasis his point.

Nye received widespread support on Twitter for highlighting climate change, but others called him a ‘fake scientist.’

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pushing for a so-called Green New Deal to combat climate change in the U.S., finding an ally in Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.
