The University of Saskatchewan has eliminated seven positions in its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) unit following a review of the department’s structure and operations. In a statement to CTV News, the university said the decision was made to ensure the ICT unit can continue to operate “responsibly and within financial means.” “These decisions are not taken lightly but made in order to operate responsibly and within financial means,” the university said. “The workforce adjustments, while difficult, will allow for better role alignment and streamlined ICT operations.” The university said the cuts are tied to ICT’s ongoing operational needs and financial sustainability planning. The university said transition supports have been offered to affected employees. For privacy reasons, the university said it will not comment on individual staff and has no further comment.
