The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) says it has no plan to relocate the Gold Eagle Casino. “GEC remains a strong performer in the North Battleford market,” SIGA said in a statement sent Friday. “Any future development plans regarding the GEC will be communicated at the appropriate time.” Earlier this week the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation’s announced a $100 million development project in North Battleford. The project includes the relocation of Gold Eagle Casino to a new business and industry hub along Highway 16. The news means the existing Gold Eagle Casino on the east end of the city will not renew its sublease agreement with SIGA in April of 2027 in preparation for the new development, which will sit on 67 acres across the street from The Tropical Inn. SIGA says it acknowledges the First Nation’s plans and it re-invests in its properties to enhance efficiency and service quality in consultation with key stakeholders. Based on early feasibility assessments, the project is expected to create 350 construction jobs and 400 long-term positions. Projections estimate it will generate millions of dollars in new annual tourism revenue, while attracting more than half a million visitors each year.
