A tornado is confirmed to have touched down near Denzil, Sask. on Thursday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). “We did receive damage photos from that as well. It looks like a grain silo was destroyed,” Kyle Ziolowski, a meteorologist with ECCC, told CTV News on Friday. “We can confirm at least one tornado in the Denzil area yesterday.” He said the tornado will be investigated further, as crews determine the rating and damage. A red level tornado warning was issued for the area around 5:41 p.m. on Thursday, with a funnel cloud reported near Denzil. According to the alert, the funnel cloud was moving slowly east with the community of Salvador in its path. ECCC said damaging winds of up to 90 km/h, golf ball size hail ranging from five to six centimetres, and very heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 millimetres was possible.
