The Saskatoon Airport is preparing for a major renovation. At its annual meeting, the airport authority revealed renderings of what the arrivals area will soon look like. The renovation will feature a larger entrance, a new information desk, and upgraded escalators. Stephen Maybury, the CEO of the Saskatoon Airport, is looking forward to the arrivals area matching the modern aesthetic of the recently-renovated departures area. “We want the arrival experience to match the departure experience,” Maybury said. “You’ll see a much more warm environment.” Maybury said the renovation — scheduled to be complete by 2026 — aims to make it easier for passengers to navigate baggage areas and transportation options. “You may see some level of video-tronics that will change the experience entirely,” Maybury said. The construction plan comes as the airport returns to pre-pandemic levels. About 1.4 million people went through the Saskatoon Airport in 2024. The airport authority expects travel to the United States to decline this year, amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war. Maybury said the airport was “very sorry” to see Flair Airlines end its operations in Saskatoon this year. He attributed the decision to aircraft availability. “Everyone’s competing to get aircraft,” Maybury said. “They truly just don’t have the aircraft to put in our market at this point.”
