NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. - A man who thought he heard a bear while camping has mistakenly shot a woman making a late-night trip to relieve herself in the woods.

Mounties say the woman was shot in the torso but not seriously hurt.

The 22-year-old tourist from Denmark was taken to hospital in North Battleford, Sask., and released.

She was camping last weekend with four other adults on a farm near the town of Whitkow.

A 26-year-old man from North Battleford was arrested and released from custody.

No charges have been laid and police continue to investigate.
