A SaskPower worker is no longer employed by the Crown corporation after it was discovered they used company cards for non-business-related purchases adding up to more than $23,000, a public loss report from the province shows. According to the report for the period of Jan. 1 to March 31, 2025, a corporate procurement card and fuel card were used to rack up a total of $23,761.36 in charges that were not related to business purchases. “The person responsible is no longer working at SaskPower. A repayment plan has been agreed to,” the report says. According to the report, internal auditors investigated the incident and made recommendations to management that will enhance monitoring and fix control deficiencies. “Management is currently developing corrective actions to respond to the recommendations,” the report reads. Second investigation The report also shows that a second investigation is ongoing regarding another SaskPower employee who allegedly also used a corporate procurement card to make $3,184.83 worth of non-business-related purchases. “The individual being investigated has been placed on leave pending the results of the investigation,” the report says. Recommendations from internal auditors have again been provided to management to improve processes, enhance monitoring and fix control deficiencies, according to the report.
