Sask. man who harboured ‘Queen of Canada’ cult has court appearance adjourned

SWIFT CURRENT, SASK. – The man who owns the former school where the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Canada’ and her followers resided in the town of Richmound, Sask. had his court appearance adjourned Wednesday at Swift Current Provincial Court.

Ricky Manz is charged with one count of failure to comply with a release order condition, one count of intimidation of a justice system participant, and one count of failure to comply with undertaking condition.

He is also facing seven additional charges relating to previous incidents, including assaults, resisting arrest, mischief, uttering threats, and obstructing municipalities.

Neither the accused nor his lawyer was present for the proceeding. An assistant for Manz’s counsel appeared via video on their behalf.

Manz, along with the group’s leader Romana Didulo, were arrested Sept. 3, 2025 after Saskatchewan RCMP raided the compound – which saw a total of 16 people taken into custody.

RCMP reported at the time that 13 imitation, semi-automatic handguns, along with ammunition and electronic devices, were seized during the search of the group’s compound.

Shortly after the arrests, provincial health officials declared parts of the compound unfit for human habitation and prohibited anyone from living there.

In March, Didulo had her charges stayed by the Crown, ahead of a preliminary inquiry which was to begin this month.

Prior to taking up residence in Richmound, Didulo and her followers were forced out of Kamsack, Sask., on Sept. 13, 2023.

Didulo rose to prominence in the wave of alt subcultures that emerged during the protests against the public health measures employed in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents in Richmound breathed a sigh of relief after Didulo’s arrest, citing the anxiety and uneasiness the group created while they resided in the community.

Richmound is located approximately 400 kilometres west of Regina, near the Alberta border.

Manz is next scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on April 22, 2026.
