The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced the signing of 2016 Super Bowl champion and 2022 Grey Cup champion Shane Ray. Ray won the Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos, he picked up two tackles and a forced fumble in the 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers and was a member of the Toronto Argonauts Grey Cup winning team that defeated Winnipeg at Mosaic Stadium. This will be Ray’s second stint in the CFL after spending the past two seasons with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans, he was originally drafted 23rd overall by the Broncos in 2015. Ray, 31, signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021 and spent a total of three seasons with the Argonauts dressing in 10 games in 2021 and 2022 registering 17 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles. In the NFL, Ray played in 49 games and made 15 starts with the Broncos. During that time he earned 94 tackles, 15 for a loss, 33 quarterback hits and 14 sacks. He also recorded two pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The Riders open the 2025 CFL season on June 5 when they host the Ottawa Redblacks.
