A Pilot Butte man is more than $1.3 million richer after hitting a progressive VLT jackpot in Regina. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) says Darrell Moe won $1,320,716.96 on the Vault Breaker game at Trifon’s Pizza in Regina on Feb. 5. Moe said he had stopped in for a coffee and decided to “drop a few bucks” into one of the video lottery terminals. He described feeling “shocked” when the on-screen vault opened and the machine signalled a grand jackpot win. He said he has not yet made specific plans for the money but expects to invest most of it. Vault Breaker is a wide-area progressive game linking about 4,200 VLTs at more than 560 locations in nearly 270 communities across Saskatchewan, according to WCLC. The game features three mystery jackpot tiers: a provincewide grand jackpot with a minimum value of $500,000 that must pay out before reaching $1.5 million; a regional major jackpot starting at $5,000 and paying out before $25,000; and a local site jackpot starting at $100 and paying out before $500. Any of the three tiers can be won while playing Vault Breaker. Since its launch in June 2017, the provincewide jackpot has awarded more than $60 million to 60 winners. The grand jackpot has now reset to $500,000. Someone in Saskatchewan is also $100,000 richer after matching the last six digits of the Lotto 6-49 Extra. So check your tickets.
