Two new private pickleball clubs have announced their intention to open indoor clubs in Saskatchewan’s two largest cities. ‘Picklr Canada’ has signed a multi-unit development agreement with Saskatchewan Pickleball Clubs Ltd. to bring premium indoor pickleball facilities to Saskatoon and Regina, with Saskatoon opening later this year, the organization announced Friday. “This strategic partnership will bring new premier indoor pickleball facilities to the cities of Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan, with the option for further future locations in the province,” Picklr Canada said in a news release. According to the release, Saskatoon’s location will feature a 31,000 square foot facility to house 10 full-sized pickleball courts, locker rooms and a community space designed to host member play, events and competitions. The location in Regina has yet to be announced but the company says it is evaluating potential sites to identify a home for a permanent Picklr club in that city. “We are incredibly excited to partner with Saskatchewan Pickleball Clubs Ltd. as we expand our footprint into Saskatchewan,” said Rob Lloyd, President of Picklr Canada. “This agreement underscores our dedication to providing top-tier pickleball experiences and further solidifies Picklr Canada’s position as a leader in the indoor pickleball market.” Saskatchewan Pickleball Club president Larry Owen aims to elevate the player experience with the new hubs. “We have been investigating this business opportunity for several years and were most impressed by the comprehensive membership programming, systems and club design that elevates the Picklr player experience above any other options we were considering,” he said in a statement. According to Picklr, there are over 70 clubs operating across North America, with two in Canada – in Toronto and Winnipeg. Its ‘Picklr Unlimited Membership’ costs $195 per month plus some fees at its Toronto location. In Winnipeg, standard membership fees are $169 per month or $1,859 per year. Junior memberships are available for $79 per month while family memberships cost $4,395 annually. There are already indoor locations in both cities. Bridge City Pickleball Hub offers multiple annual membership options of $99/year for basic, $249/year for a premium membership or $499/year for its ultimate package. Depending on the membership, players may drop-in or reserve a court at a discounted price. However, anyone who is not a member is still able to use the facility. In Regina, Queen City Pickleball Hub has a $99 monthly membership fee with a discounted per-hour rate. Similar to Bridge City, anyone who is not a member is still able to use the facility. Queen City Pickleball Hub is set to move from its current location at the REAL District as its lease has ended at the site. A permanent new site has not yet been announced by the club. Picklr says members receive a series of benefits, including access to any of its locations in Canada and the U.S. “The response from local players to date has been so overwhelming a future expansion of additional indoor and outdoor courts is already being evaluated,” Owen added. “This demonstrates the continued growth of the sport and the region’s readiness for premier indoor pickleball options” The first Picklr club in the province will open at 830 43rd Street East in Saskatoon in “early fall 2026,” according to the club. In Regina, a temporary pop-up location is being planned to open this summer to help address a “court shortage in the city,” Picklr said. “Picklr Canada is dedicated to developing and operating up to 65 premier indoor pickleball facilities across Canada by 2031.”
