Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) is investing $1.5 million into Sask. Polytech’s KINTECH Health Research Centre to advance maternal and pediatric research in the province. The applied research centre uses technologies, including virtual reality, to support health and well-being for families in their home communities, with the partnership an important step in creating the JPCHF Provincial Maternal and Pediatric Research Initiative. With the funding, the centre will use technology to design and test approaches to care for children and families across Saskatchewan. “Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, together with our Board of Directors, is enthusiastic to elevate care for Saskatchewan children, expectant mothers and families, ensuring a lasting impact for generations to come,” Troy Davies, CEO of JPCHF said in a news release on Thursday. Sask. Polytech is the second recipient of the JPCHF Provincial Maternal and Pediatric Research Fund. The first recipient was the Child Trauma Research Centre at the University of Regina in March. Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask Polytech president and CEO, said the organization is thankful to the foundation for the investment. “We’re excited about the applied research opportunities and real-world impact this funding creates,” he said.
