The University of Regina Rams overcame a slow start and star running back Marshall Erichsen scored three touchdowns in a 30-8 win over the University of Manitoba Bisons on Saturday afternoon at Mosaic Stadium. The Rams trailed the Bisons 7-0 after the first quarter. Rams quarterback Noah Pelletier engineered a 10-play, 98-yard drive that Erichsen capped off with a 28-yard touchdown. A couple of possessions later, Pelletier hit Nicholas Sirleaf for a 52-yard gain. The Rams drew Manitoba offside on a 3rd-and-4 to gain a first down. Pelletier connected with Erichsen on a 14-yard pass in which the running back elluded a couple of defenders to narrowly slide inside the pylon. “It was a hard-fought win for us. We had a slow start and relied on our defence, but then got going as a team,” said Head Coach Mark McConkey. Erichsen finished the game with 165 rushing yards on 18 carries. Through five games, Erichsen now has 725 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. The school record is held by Adrian Charles with 972 yards in the 2010 season. The school record for touchdowns is 9 which is held by Charles (2010) and Neal Hughes (2003). Nicholas Sirleaf led all Rams receivers with 111 yards on six catches. He’s now second in the Canada West and fifth in Canada with 107.2 receiving yards per game. The Brooks, AB native is on pace to have 800+ yards which has only been hit by five U of R receivers. Current Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Mitch Picton was the last to eclipse 800 receiving yards in 2016. McConkey pointed to the team’s strong defensive effort for helping the team overcome a slow start. Jacob Tkachuk and Brandon Wong each had fourth quarter fumble recoveries. Carsen Sombach and Liam Platt each recorded an interception. Liam LaBelle and Max Polischuk each had critical pass break-ups. Rams quarterback Noah Pelletier completed 13 of his 24 pass attempts for 165 yards and one touchdown. Owen Sieben came into the game late in the third quarter and finished seven-for-ten for 105 yards. The University of Regina Rams will face the University of Calgary Dinos next Saturday (Oct. 5, 2025) at Mosaic Stadium. A win over the Dinos would clinch a playoff berth for the Rams.
