A Regina woman won more than $1 million in the grand jackpot on a Vault Breaker VLT in Saskatoon June 7. Kristin McElligott was at Ricky’s All Day Grill on Idylwyld Drive with two friends when she hit the jackpot on the VLT, a whopping $1,273,757.37 prize. “I screamed and cheered so loud the entire bar heard,” she said in a news release from the Western Canadian Lotteries Corporation (WCLC). “A large group of people gathered to congratulate me and everyone was so happy.” McElligott said she would like to pay off her student loans, invest and buy a car with her winnings. She has some bigger plans in mind as well. “I’ve always wanted to travel and buy a home one day. This will help,” she said. Vault Breaker links 4,200 VLTs at about 570 sites in 270 communities across Saskatchewan, with mystery jackpot tiers that can be awarded when someone plays. Since June of 2017, the jackpot has awarded $51,970,811.15 to 52 winners. The Vault Breaker jackpot has now been reset to $500,000, according to WCLC.
