An eight-year-old boy is dead following a water-related emergency on Regina Beach late last week. On Friday, Aug. 21, at around 3:50 p.m., Lumsden RCMP responded to a call at Regina Beach — located around 50 kilometres northwest of Regina. Mounties and paramedics responded to the area, where a child was found in the water and declared dead at the scene. The eight-year-old’s family has been notified. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has taken over the sudden death investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP noted that due to there being no element of criminality in the death, no further details would be released. In a statement to CTV News, STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service) confirmed its personnel did respond to the scene on Friday, but were not required and returned to base. “As we did not transport a patient, this is the extent of the information we are able to provide regarding this mission,” it added.
