CARACAS, Venezuela - A Venezuelan court has sentenced four police officers and nine civilians to 30 years in prison for kidnapping and killing three young brothers and their driver.

Prosecutors say 13 people were convicted in the abduction and killings of the Faddoul brothers -- ages 17, 13 and 12 -- who had dual Canadian-Venezuelan citizenship.

Their driver was also killed.

Their bodies were found in April 2006, more than a month after they were kidnapped by abductors who officials said demanded ransom.

The case sparked protests over rampant crime in the country.

The attorney general's office says the 13 were convicted of involvement in hired killings, kidnapping with death in captivity, and other crimes.

Three suspects remain at large.
