Despite slumping polls, for the NDP it's been the Summer of Love

SASKATOON -- While the latest polling numbers may not have New Democrats in a partying mood at least 5 NDP MPs have another reason to celebrate: they all got hitched this summer.

The first-term MPs took a break from the barbecue circuit to say their “I do’s”:

Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan Tremblay (Montmorency-Charlevoix-Haute-Côte-Nord) married Rebecca Deroy on April 29 in Charlevoix, Que.

Anne Quach, 31, (Beauharnois-Salaberry) married Mathieu Dube on June 29 in Couteau-du-Lac, Que.

Dan Harris, 34 (Scarborough Southwest) married Melissa McComrick on August 24 in Toronto.

Twenty-two-year-old Pierre Luc-Dusseault (Sherbrooke) married Joanie Boulet on July 27 in Sherbrooke, Que.

And 29-year-old MP Lysane Blanchette Lamothe (Pierrefonds-Dollard) married Ronald Rojas Alvarez in Colombia on July 2.

No word if leader Tom Mulcair attended any of the weddings, or if he gave a gift.

And if these newlywed MPs win a second term, they’ll be guaranteed a comfy MP pension when they hit their golden years a few decades from now.
