KITCHENER, Ont. - Waterloo Region police say they now suspect foul play in the case of a 30-year-old Kitchener, Ont., man missing since November 2002.

David MacDermott was last seen at his home on a Saturday night and was reported missing after failing to show up for a ball hockey game the next day. Staff Sgt. Chris Downey says "new information has led to the involvement of homicide detectives," but did not elaborate.

Downey says MacDermott's disappearance is now being investigated as a missing person case with suspicious circumstances.

MacDermott, who is six-foot-one and 186 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes, was known to frequent bars in Kitchener and Waterloo.

Detectives are appealing to the public for any information regarding MacDermott's background or his disappearance.
