A man is facing charges after police recovered a significant amount of property believed to have been stolen during several break and enters at Arnprior homes and business. Police executed a search warrant at a home in Arnprior on Aug. 28 and recovered the items ranging from expensive tools and a vehicle to fire extinguishers, hoses and a griddle. Police did not say how many homes were targeted or a timeframe of the alleged offences. Investigators are continuing to work to identify the rightful owners of the recovered property. “We definitely look for links between the types of property that is being stolen,” said OPP Const. Michael Fathi. “In smaller communities, most people know each other. The tools and stuff are usually recognizable by a lot of people, but one of the things we like to encourage also is to keep track of serial numbers, because that will aid, of course, in the investigation later on in recovering and getting back the property to the rightful owners.” A 43-year-old man from Arnprior has been charged with five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order. Renfrew County OPP say the investigation remains ongoing and more charges could be laid.
