An Ottawa-area couple had bought lottery tickets playing the same numbers for seven years, but it wasn't until they used different numbers that they became millionaires.

Suzanne and Rene Longpre won $11.5 million numbers late last month based on Lotto Max's randomly-generated Quick Picks after they forgot to bring their lucky number to the store.

Suzanne, 65, of Limoges, Ont. was in the shoe aisle of Walmart on Feb. 25 when her husband Rene, 68, showed her the ticket "with all the zeros" indicating the size of the win, she told the OLG during a cheque presentation ceremony Thursday.

The win came just in time for their 45th wedding anniversary. The retired couple plan to celebrate with their dream Hawaiian vacation, and then start travelling the world.

The rest of the money will go to trust funds for their grandchildren and new homes for their two sons, they said in a statement from the OLG.

The couple was presented with the cheque just one day after the OLG awarded a couple from nearby Hawkesbury, Ont. a cheque for $50 million.
