HANOVER, Ont. - The Grey-Bruce Health Unit is investigating several cases of E. coli at a Hanover hospital.

The bacteria is the same strain that caused the Walkerton tainted-water disaster in 2000. Hanover and District Hospital CEO Katrina Wilson says the health unit is helping investigate the source of the bacteria. It's believed the six patients may have contracted the E. coli during a June 22 hospital gathering.

Wilson says the six patients are in stable condition.

No new cases have surfaced since July 1.

Hospital staff are taking extra sanitation precautions.
