TORONTO - It's not quite the cool factor of a celebrity endorsement, but RIM's new PlayBook tablet is getting raves from one high-profile source -- Ontario's finance minister.

Research in Motion's answer to Apple's iPad isn't due for public release until April 19th.

But RIM, which is based in Waterloo west of Toronto, loaned a PlayBook to Dwight Duncan.

He first showed it off at the recent provincial budget and admits he has become enamoured with it.

Duncan admits he isn't a techie but calls the PlayBook intuitive and easy to use.

The tablet is apparently aimed at BlackBerry customers so giving one to the finance minister makes business sense.

But Duncan admits he is especially fond of the "Need For Speed" driving game.
