EDMONTON - Occupy Edmonton protesters are not being evicted from a downtown park.

Melcor Developments, the company that owns the property off Jasper Avenue, says it is only suggesting that protesters no longer stay in the park after 11 p.m.

Company president Ralph Young says he has passed on his concerns about health and safety to organizers.

He says protesters can stay as long as they continue to be responsible with the space and their demonstration remains peaceful.

Protest spokeswoman Chelsea Taylor says it's cold at night, but the group has voted to stay as long as people show up.

The demonstration is one of many around the globe sparked by last month's Occupy Wall Street movement denouncing corporate greed and economic inequality.
