Ontario hunter fined for deer tag violation
A southern Ontario hunter has been fined $1,500 after shooting an antlerless deer on Manitoulin Island and failing to immediately invalidate his tag at the kill site. Conservation officers discovered the violation during a patrol, after the man had already processed the animal and continued hunting for several days. The deer was seized and donated to a local Indigenous community, with officials warning that such violations can damage wildlife populations and future tag allotments.
