Second West Nile virus case confirmed in northern Ontario
A horse in the Parry Sound District has tested positive for West Nile virus, marking the second case in northern Ontario in less than a week. The 5-year-old animal developed symptoms on Aug. 21 and is improving after treatment. Health officials say the confirmation proves local mosquitoes are carrying the infection. This comes just days after a crow in Espanola also tested positive.
