U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mocked Canada's military capacity as trade negotiations remain stalled ahead of the start of Canada's retaliatory tariffs set for Sept. 8. Prime Minister Mark Carney has suspended talks and recalled Canadian negotiators from Washington. Carney has also met with 23 major companies to discuss trade impacts and domestic investment.
