In our first Municipal Elections 2026 special, Ian Campbell takes a general look at elections across the region as Ontario's municipal election campaign is underway, with voting set for Oct. 26. Eligible voters must be 18, Canadian citizens and residents or landowners in the municipality. Some communities, including Kapuskasing, have acclaimed candidates due to a lack of contested races. Voter turnout in 2022 was just 32.9%.
