Heat and humidity, combined with nearly 200 forest fires burning across northern Ontario, have triggered evacuation orders for several communities and closed sections of Highways 599 and 527. A train crew supporting evacuees from Armstrong escaped safely after wildfires overtook their train, an incident the union and CN are now investigating. CN has suspended rail operations in the area as a precaution.
