ER waits top 14 hours for 1.5M Canadians
Canadian Institute for Health Information data shows more than 1.5 million Canadians spent more than 14 hours in emergency rooms, with approximately 180,000 admitted patients waiting more than 48 hours for an inpatient bed. Chronic illness, family doctor shortages and limited access to home care and long-term care are key factors behind the overcrowding and delays.
