Sudbury advocates warn developmentally disabled system in crisis as clients left homeless
Sudbury service leaders are sounding the alarm over a developmental services system in crisis, saying vulnerable clients are falling through the cracks. Advocates report individuals with developmental disabilities are experiencing homelessness, couch surfing, and exploitation — with some being abused or having belongings stolen. With over 53,000 Ontarians on waitlists for critical supports, Sudbury Community Service Centre CEO Kevin Cooper warns “we’re at a point right now where we can’t go any further.” Lyndsay Aelick has more.
