Timmins woman wins $100K in lottery encore game

A 58-year-old grandmother from Timmins joins the list of lottery winners from northern Ontario with a big six-figure prize won earlier this month.

April Migneault matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the Ontario 49 draw on June 3, winning $100,000.

After some smaller lottery wins in the past, this is her biggest one so far, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said in a news release Wednesday.

She was in shock when she validated her ticket at the store and found out she had won, OLG said.

"The cashier was jumping up and down with excitement," Migneault is quoted as saying in the release.

She owns a business and said everyone in the office was happy for her when she announced the news.

Migneault plans to use the money to complete some home renovations and put some toward her retirement.

"You never expect it to happen to you, but when it does, it’s an amazing feeling," she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Canadian Tire gas bar on Riverside Drive in Timmins, OLG said.
