After winning the Ontario Football Conference title Saturday at Superior Heights by beating London, the Sault College Cougars remain undefeated in winning the Teddy Morris Memorial Trophy. Playing at home, the Cougars built a 17-7 half-time lead on touchdown runs by Sam Mustapha and Jayden Ralph before London mounted a comeback and narrowed the gap to 17-14. A Jaidan Trudeau reception on a pass from Emmerson Peterkin in the third quarter made the score 24-14 for Sault College. Despite a fourth-quarter touchdown by the visitors, the Cougars scored a safety and an interception by Russell Beaubrun with 28 seconds left to seal the victory, 26-21. Sault College now advances to the Canadian Junior Football League semifinals Oct. 24, when the Cougars face the Regina Thunder. Regina defeated the Saskatoon Hilltops 44-19 to win the Prairie Football Conference championship. Next weekend’s winner will then advance to the Canadian Bowl set for Nov. 7 in British Columbia.
