Quebec man charged after Thunder Bay stabbing: police

A Quebec man is facing multiple charges following a police investigation into a series of assaults in the Red River Road area of Thunder Bay, Ont.

The Thunder Bay Police Service said officers, assisted by the emergency task unit as part of Project Support, responded to reports of an assault just after 1 p.m. on May 29.

Victim located with stab wounds

Upon arriving at the scene, police said officers located an individual with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“Officers were able to identify, locate and arrest a suspect nearby,” said police in a news release Monday.

Thunder Bay police said that further investigation led to the identification of additional victims, though no other injuries were reported.

Multiple charges

As a result of the investigation, the accused, a 54-year-old man from Quebec, has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was remanded into custody following his first court appearance.
