Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 30-year-old man March 23 in Elk Lake in northeastern Ontario. The SIU said that its initial investigation has found that Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call about a disturbance at a convenience store on Pine Street in Elk Lake, located north of Temiskaming Shores. “Officers arrived at about 4:10 p.m., arrested the man and he went into medical distress,” the SIU said in a news release March 24. “First aid was administered and EMS attended. The man was taken to hospital in Englehart where he was pronounced deceased.” The SIU has assigned three investigators and one forensic investigator to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday.
