The Thunder Bay Police Service says a 32-year-old man faces several charges after an overnight assault and an attempt to escape police. Police said officers were sent to an address in the area of Simpson and Bethune Streets just after midnight on Oct. 7 after receiving a report of an assault. “Responding officers learned that two males became involved in a verbal altercation, which led to a physical assault,” police said in a news release Thursday. “Officers located a male matching the suspect description in the area of May and Donald Streets about 45 minutes later.” Police said the suspect attempted to flee from officers but was taken into custody. As a result, the local man faces charges of assault causing bodily harm, resisting police and failing to comply with both probation and release orders. The accused was remanded into custody following an initial court appearance.
